The Magic Path

A creative workshop for young storytelling explorers

The Magic Path: Storytelling through Art is a 2-hour creative workshop designed for primary school children to explore their own stories. Guided by art therapist Jules Booth, children will journey through the classic storytelling pattern of The Hero’s Journey—uncovering the adventure in their own imaginations.

With inspiring prompts and a variety of hands-on art experiences—such as book making, map-making, mask-making, and creating their own hero’s backpack—young explorers will bring their stories to life in imaginative ways.

My daughters, aged 6 and 8, recently took part in the Magic Path workshop with Jules Booth. Through this workshop, children are able to interact and work with a wonderful range of materials and props to create their own characters, masks and stories. At first, my daughters were unsure where to begin their stories but were gently encouraged to develop their ideas into the tales of a girl who found a jewel that turned her into a dragon, and the secret cave guarded by a phoenix. The Magic Path is a wonderfully creative and unique experience to inspire children of all age ranges and interests. I would strongly recommend this workshop for any primary school age children.

I liked the creation and all the different characters on the path. My favourite part of the path was the treasures.
